Other things...
Burned my arm on a pan the other night. Felt really stupid, and the entire kitchen smelled like burnt meat and hair. Now I have a nasty burn on my forearm. Slick.
I was in a bad mood most of yesterday. Woke up on the wrong side of the bed. But I also slept funny, I think, because my back, shoulder, and neck all ached. It was a very special sort of hell.
So I was at work, being a grumpypants and was shutting down the lab when two of the Taiwanese girls came up to me and asked if I could wait for them "for just two minutes." Ok. I continued shutting down the lab, and was starting to regret saying that I'd wait because I just wanted to go home. Grgrgrowlgrump. Everyone else cleared out, so I was just dicking around, leaving some computers on because I had no idea what the fuck they wanted.
Then they came back into the lab, and handed me two little gifts!!! A little ocarina and a decorative jade thingie. It was so sweet. I almost cried, it made me so happy. It was the exact right note to end the day on.
Turns out, they were leaving today. I'm still not exactly sure why they felt compelled to give me anything, but I think it might have to do with me just being nice to them. I helped them with their problems as best I could (their English was totally shit), never got pissy with them when they stayed a little too late... I'm not sure if that's particularly nice, though. Just not shitty.
No matter what, though, they were sweethearts and it was a very nice thing for them to do. It made my day/week/lifetime.
Nothing interesting outside of that. But that IS pretty interesting.
