2004-05-03 That's right, the women are smarter
So the computer lab (my workplace) is finally open 24 hours -- which was supposed to happen at the end of September. Nice. Now it's time to sit back and watch everything fall to fucking pieces, because they're not planning on having anyone here most of the time.
Not. My. Problem.
Anyway.
My weekend was mostly fucking awesome. Friday, I went out with a friend-ish of mine, Wayne, who's a loudmouthed asshole but okay for the most part. Ran into a friend of mine named Justin, who I met just a few weeks ago and is in my Introduction to Islam class. He told me he'd call me "maybe, if I wind up going out and doing anything." Alot of maybes. Nice. I said I may or may not be around.
Wayne came onto me in a really dumb way, though. He gave me a hug and said "Wow, you're soft."
"Oh. Uhm. Thanks."
"I bet your lips are soft, too."
"HAHAHA! Nice try."
"What?"
"Nice try, but not a chance."
He didn't say much after that, then I saw a friend of mine, Brian, another loudmouthed asshole, but one I can deal with. Hung out with him at the Deadwood (a bar) and then went to an afterhours above India Cafe. Mih. Went home. Nothing too thrilling.
Saturday, did some homework, walked around, stopped home to eat dinner and Justin called. Told me to meet him at Quinton's (a bar). Did. Hung out with him and his friends there, went bar-hopping after that. Had a really great time. Went to an afterhours party that was really weird in a really bad way.
So we get there, and this girl is lying down in the middle of the lawn. Drunk as shit. She fell flat on her back and couldn't get back up, didn't have the sense to turn over and use her arms. Starting to pass out. Justin and I help her up and take inside the house (temperature was around mid-30's by this point) and set her down in a chair. Alright. We did our party thing, I spoke (very briefly) with a kid named Quincy. Sat down in another room, and the girl wandered over and sat down next to us. Dropped all her stuff. Bent over. She was looking for her cell phone, so I reached down to get it for her and saw that -- no, she's not looking for her stuff, she's throwing up all over the floor. The guy who lives there freaked out, got a wastebasket and a towel, and told her to get out. She apologized. "No, it's fine, just leave." Everyone was looking at me like I knew her. I had no idea who she was. Told them so. She tried to stand up, couldn't, so I helped her up and helped her outside. Tried to call a cab on her phone, but she wasn't getting any service. She needed to get to a friend's house about 2 blocks away. So, fine, can't call a cab, so I take her home. Almost carry. She couldn't really stand up on her own, let alone walk. Found out her name is Monika. Got her over to her friend's apartment, who looked none too thrilled to see either her or me. Like "here's my drunk-ass friend and who the FUCK is this freak?"
Whatever.
Made sure she got in and settled a bit, went back to the party. We took off right after I got back, because somebody tried to start a fight with Justin over me. Evidently said something along the lines of "Where's your woman?"
Went to one of his friend's house. Had a good time. Nothing too interesting happened. Went home and got to sleep around 8am.
The whole thing with Monika, though, really bothered me. All of her friends either ditched her or were flat-out ignoring her at that party. People were stepping over her when she was lying on the lawn -- she wasn't even wearing a jacket, just jeans and a t-shirt, she couldn't sit up, and it was near freezing. How can someone just step over someone else like that? Then everybody just got pissed at her when she puked on the floor -- rightfully so, but no one was willing to make sure she could even get outside and call a cab. Or something. Great fucking friends she had, and great fucking people at the party. Yeah, it sucks to have someone puke on your floor, but I'd imagine it'd be even worse to have a fucking corpse in your lawn.
Fuck.
Sunday was fine, I did homework, today was fine, more homework, blahblahblah. Nothing interesting.
